Recipients can click on the link at the bottom of the message to confirm that the message was sent through ExchangeDefender, and that the sender address is authentic (not forged). We also enable our clients to customize the inline signature that leads to the ExchangeDefender Message Verification Service. Our verification service can confirm whether the message is authentic or fraudulent. Recipients can also confirm that the SMTP headers generated by ExchangeDefender match the ones on their side. This process delivers an additional layer of authenticity by eliminating "man-in-the-middle" attacks where hackers may have compromised network infrastructure between our network and the recipients network. ExchangeDefender also signs the message with other open email standards (such as DomainKey DKIM signature) that can assure message authenticity and prevent fraud. ExchangeDefender’s message verification service can authenticate messages and determine whether they are valid or if they are fraudulent. ExchangeDefender provides information about the sender, the network that processed the message, and the Message Details & Report which includes the SMTP headers stamped on the message as it left our network. Message is fraudulent [¶](#message-fraudulent) ------------------------------------------------ ![](/images-documentation/verify_invalid.png) ExchangeDefender may be able to verify if the message went through our network, but it does not match the message with the sender or recipient's email address. This means the message may have been forged, tampered with, or fraudulent. We recommend deleting the message, not clicking on any other links, and potentially alerting the sender that their email infrastructure may have an issue.
